Golfing for a cause: The Paul Davis Charitable Fund Golf Outing & Benefit

SUSSEX, Wis. (BVM)– On June 17, The Paul Davis Charitable Fund welcomed over 300 people to participate in their golf outing and benefit. This year though, one name in particular was remembered in memoriam.

In January 2021, 20-year-old Marleh Lehmann tragically passed away in a car accident. Marleh was known as a genuine person who cared for others. In light of these attributes, Marleh’s parent’s Mike and Margo Lehmann asked that those wanting to honor her name donate to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS helps fund the national research for the treatment/ prevention of Leukemia and Lymphoma.

The Paul Davis Charitable fund, established in 2008, provides opportunities for the local community to either volunteer and/or donate. The Golf Outing & Benefit serves a valuable purpose within the community as it creates a charity event that is cost efficient for those who want to participate.

LLS retains a special place within the Lehmanns heart as Marleh’s mother, Margo, currently battles Lymphoma. That being said, The Paul Davis Charity Fund set a goal of raising $50,000 so a Leukemia mission portfolio could be made in Marleh’s honor.

One of the event organizers for the Paul Davis Charitable Fund, Kelsey Taugher, personally knew Marleh and the Lehmann family. Her unique perspective helped embody the essence of the event.

“Having the opportunity to put together an event to honor Marleh was incredibly hard work,” Taugher said. “I wanted the event to be perfect for her. Like any event there were stressful days but when something wouldn’t fall into place I knew Marleh was up in heaven telling me to have no worries.”

In the end, over 300 people came to support  the event and the donation total exceeded the goal for the LLS Research Portfolio in Marleh’s name. In true fashion, those in attendance shared Marleh’s compassion.

“The Paul Davis/LLS event was able to capture her spirit and share it with all those who gathered at the outing if they knew her or not,” Taugher said. “The people that joined were able to create a connection that was incredible to witness.”
