Arlington’s rising ace Eric Servellon chooses West Virginia
LAGRANGEVILLE, N.Y. (BVM) — Arlington rising junior Eric Servellon surprised many with his dominating performance last season as the Admirals enjoyed an 11-2 season and a semifinal appearance.
His work on the mound garnered attention from more than just his competition. After a chance to play at one of the marquee schools in the Big 12 presented itself recently, the Arlington pitcher would make sure to jump at the opportunity.
“I am very blessed and excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at West Virginia,” Servellon shared on Twitter. “ I would like to thank my family, my coaches and teammates throughout all of the years. I would also like to thank Coach Novak for helping me with the recruiting process, as well as all of the PBR Staff! Thank you Coach Mazey, Coach Sabins and the entire WVU staff for believing in me and for this amazing opportunity.”

With his recent decision, Servellon will join a list of players with similar connections in the area. Ketcham freshman Owen Pain committed to Ole Miss last year, and Clinton Corners’ Eli Stowe will be attending the University of Maryland. With the announcement coming from Servellon after his attendance at the WVU camp recently, the 6-foot-1 pitcher will likely get some coaching up from his older brother, Rob, who was once a former ace for the Admirals.

With his college experience still a couple of years away, the rising junior will still have some time to develop his game at the high school level after experiencing a notable jump in his fastball velocity this past year. After an injury his freshman year, Servellon has continued to find his form on the mound in 2021. Success in the PBR Future Games allowed Servellon to show off his most recent work.
The up-and-coming ace was able to take the ball these past playoffs as he pitched against John Jay in the quarterfinals. Following a close loss to Ketcham in the Class AA semifinals, Servellon will likely play a major role in helping his team reach the state finals once again. Arlington’s enjoyed a successful campaign recently, capturing the Section 1 crown three times this past decade.
