Bridgeland and Klein Cain football meet on national television

SPRING, Texas (BVM) ― On Saturday, Bridgeland and Klein Cain football teams will meet at Klein Cain Memorial Stadium to kick off their 2021-22 seasons. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Both teams are coming off impressive 2020 seasons. Bridgeland finished with a 12-1 overall record and an undefeated record in district play. The Bears are currently coached by David Raffield.

The Klein Cain Hurricanes finished with an overall record of 8-2 last season and head coach James Clancy helped the team go 5-1 in district play. The Hurricanes lost to Westfield in the regional round of the playoffs last year.

This matchup will be the second time both teams faced each other to kick off their seasons. During the first game of the 2020 season, both teams were part of a high-scoring affair. The Bears ended up winning the game 49-42. Both teams combined for 1,168 total yards of offense.

Bridgeland quarterback Conner Weigman was impressive during that game, passing for 372 yards and scoring a total of six touchdowns (three passing, three rushing).

This matchup will be part of a seven-game lineup on ESPN’s GEICO High School Kickoff series. The series will begin on Thursday when two of Texas’ top programs Southlake Carroll (No. 3 in Class 6A) and Highland Park (No. 4 in Class 5A), face off at AT&T Stadium.
