MacArthur football starts the season with a win over University High

DECATUR, Ill. – MacArthur faced their rivals University High in the season opener, blowing them out of the water in a 50-9 win.

It was clear from the start who the better team was. Phillips threw to Brown for a 10-yard reception TD to put MacArthur on the board with 7:58 left in the 1st quarter, a lead that they would maintain until the end of the game. U-high quickly regrouped themselves and scored their only TD of the game, closing the gap to 8-6 with 4:48 left in the first.

MacArthur then scored 24 straight points heading into halftime. Millsap made an incredible 42-yard run dancing around the defense to up the score to 16-6 before Phillips scored a 4-yard TD with 2.9 seconds left to end the first quarter.

U-High coach seemed to make some changes before the second quarter, but when his team got back in the game, things were more or less the same. MacArthur continued to dominate, Philips scoring again with a 1-yard TD to send the game to halftime Mac 32, U-High 6.

Phillips undoubtedly had an incredible night. He threw to Shelby for a 13-yard TD in the third quarter, and after a two-point conversion, the score was 42-9. Millsap scored early in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard TD to end the game 50-9.
