West-Mont United Soccer Association offers opportunities to skilled players through camps and premier teams

LIMERICK, Pa. –- Founded as the Valley Soccer Association in 1976, West-Mont United Soccer Association is one of the oldest soccer clubs in their area. They provide a plethora of camps and team opportunities; from intermural, to their premier teams.

West-Mont United’s premier soccer teams offer training and tournament play to prepare young, skilled soccer players to one day compete at the collegiate level. Split into two groups, West-Mont United has both male and female premier teams for age brackets U13-U14 (Zone 2,) and U15-U19 (College Prep.) The goal of their Zone 2 group is to graduate to their College Prep group which, as the name suggests, provides a pathway to playing college soccer.

The premier teams compete in the National Premier League (NPL,) US Youth Soccer (USYS) Eastern Regional League, Elite Development Program (EDP) and the American Premier League (APL). In these leagues, they compete in numerous elite tournaments and skill showcases, including West-Mont United’s own premier College Showcase.

Players in both age groups are given ample training opportunities. Weekly training sessions during the season as well as winter training during the offseason. They compete in tournaments on the national and regional scale. The younger group is introduced to college prep, and recruitment while the older U15-U19 team is helped through the early college recruitment process. Goalkeepers are provided with professional training and all players have their play analyzed and evaluated to help them perfect their play.

Alumni of West-Mont United, have gone on to play D1 college soccer at Bucknell, NJIT and Pennsylvania’s own Drexel University, just to name a few. YouthSocerRankings, a website with updated soccer rankings by region, ranked West-Mont United’s U19 Premier Girls and Boys teams at 10th and 9th place respectively in Eastern P.A.

GotSoccer.com, another youth soccer ranking website ranks the U19 girls, with a season record last year of 20-7-7, as the 66th best club at their age and tier (premier) in the United States and Canada, and eighth in Eastern Pennsylvania. The girls also won four showcases last season, including two college showcases. Additionally, they came in second place in the NPL Pennsylvania Regional club league, finished with a record of four wins, three draws and no losses in their bracket.

In comparison, over the same period, the West-Mont boys U19 premier team was ranked as the 121st best club, at their age and tier, in the United States and Canada, but seventh in Eastern Pennsylvania. The boys finished the season with a record of 23-3-9, and were split into both U18 and U19 squads for the NPL regional club league, where they respectively placed in first and third places. Finally, the U19 premier team were semi-finalists in the Eastern Pennsylvania NCS (National Championship Series) defeating the FC Revolution Cosmos, ranked number six in the region, 1-2. The West-Mont boys finished third in the state.

West-Mont’s boy’s and girl’s U13 premier teams are both scheduled to have games at their home facility on Sept. 12, 2021, kicking off 2021-22 season. Last year the U13 girls premier team took home second place in the Eastern Pennsylvania 2020/2021 NCS State Cup and ended up ranked 14th in the Country and Canada, and fourth in Eastern Pennsylvania.

West-Mont United’s home field is the Hilltop Soccer Complex, where their club house is also located. Hilltop features numerous fields, but with over 2000 members, West-Mont’s organization also has access to other fields in the area including other sports complexes, schools and public parks. In addition to all things soccer, West-Mont also hosts a charitable golf outing every year at Spring Ford Country Club, which helps to support West-Mont’s financial aid program, allowing those who cannot afford to play soccer, but want to, a chance to compete.

With U13 Premier league starting, as well as numerous travel and intermural teams representing West-Mont commencing soon, there will certainly be a lot for players to look forward to in the coming months.
