Jacoria Leonard: The star player of the Bradwell Institute Tigers Softball team who was born to lead

HINESVILLE, Ga. – In every softball team, there is a star, and Jacoria Leonard is the star player of the Bradwell Institute Tigers Softball team. This is Leonard’s third season as a junior player for the Bradwell Institute Tigers. She has had a long run since the 2019-20 season when she joined as a freshman player.

Misty Eastlake, the team’s coach, focused on Leonard from her early days in the sport. Eastlake asked the girl to play second base, where she has excelled in each of the games. The coach feels that Jacoria has not missed the opportunity to grow with the team, so her future in sport looks promising.

Leonard has played in almost every position that her coach has asked of her. She is a very useful player who has improved the game for the Tigers. But before Leonard can lead the softball team in the 2021-22 season, she had to earn the position.

In the 2019-20 season, Jacoria was on the bench as an emerging player, it was her first championship, and the coach did not want to risk putting her on the field. Leonard only managed to play three times in which the Tigers were defeated.

However, the player has a passion for the sport, so she prepared to make history in the following season throughout the summer. All of Leonard’s training paid off because in 2020-21, she drove in 3 runs, recorded 7 hits, and gave the Tigers 5 runs in the 13 games she played. But it was still not enough because the team reached an overall record of 1-13 and a league record of 1-11.

Both Leonard and the coach continued training to turn their losing streak and get the team reborn in the current season. When training began, Eastlake saw Leonard’s potential on the field and felt ready to lead the team. According to the coach, Leonard is not only an excellent player, but she is also a good leader, so that she could be a great softball coach in the future.

For the 2021-2022 season, the team led by Jacoria Leonard has a score of 0 wins and 5 losses, but they can still make up ground. So far, Leonard has 5 runs and 7 hits from the three games she has participated in.

On September 16, the team will play at home against Richmond Hill and its coach Chris Jenkins. Leonard will have the opportunity to continue to show the Wildcats how softball is played.
