Dunedin High School cross country runner Clemente Espiollia leads from the front

DUNEDIN, Fla. — The Dunedin Falcons varsity cross country team is back in action. They have competed in two meets this season led by senior Clemente Espiollia.

At the Green Devil Invite on Sept. 11 Espiollia placed second, running a 16:29.60. He was less than five seconds from first place, being ousted by Canterbury School standout Dylan Bailey. The following Saturday, the Senior returned in top form to take first place at the Hammock Invitational running 17:34.00 on a more challenging course.

The future of boys’ varsity cross country at Dunedin appears bright. Espiollia is leading from the front but Junior Alexander Prothero turned in back-to-back top 25 performances in both meets. If he continues working, it may be his name in the title next season.

For now, Espiollia holds the Dunedin High School 5K record, making him the fastest Falcon ever. It’s an exciting time to be on Dunedin High’s cross country team.
