Hoover High celebrates 100th anniversary of football program in shutout over McKinley

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Over 120 football alumni gathered at Memorial Stadium on September 24 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hoover Football and cheer on the team in their big win over McKinley, 24-0.

Former coaches and players lined the field as the current players ran out of the tunnel for the game. Hoover Athletic Director Tom Oakes believes the oldest alumnus was Bob Berrodin – Class of 1958.

“Friday Night Fall Football is a tradition in our community for 100 years,” said Oakes. “The support from our community is awesome. The Hoover High School Administration and Athletic Department is excited our alumni could share in our 100 years of North Canton football and 75 years of playing at North Canton Memorial Stadium celebration this football season.”
