Nathan Pilling, the new backbone of the Moose Jaw Warriors
MOOSE JAW, Saskatchewan — If there is one player all eyes will be on this season, it would be Nathan Pilling – an outstanding and brilliant hockey player with excellent prospects.
Pilling is one of the latest signings by the Moose Jaw Warriors. The general manager of the Moose Jaw Warriors, Jason Ripplinger, announced this new development in September. The left shooter’s name was announced alongside the other three latest additions to the Club – Tate Schofer, Matthew Gallant, and Harper Lolacher.
Pilling was born in Calgary, a city in the Western Canadian Province of Alberta, on June 22nd, 2004. The 17-year-old plays a forward position, weighs 84kg, is 188cm tall, and shoots left.
No doubt, many eyes will be on Pilling because of his track record of high performance during each game. The Moose Jaw Warriors are indeed lucky to have him as a member of their team. Before joining the Moose Jaw Warriors, Pilling has had an impressive spell on other teams.
He started his hockey journey with the Calgary Flames U15 AAA in the 2018-19 season when he was 14 years old. In his season with the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League, Pilling proved that he has what it takes to become a professional someday. He scored five goals with eight assists in 31 games he played.
The Calgary-native then moved to Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League for the 2019-20 season, where he joined the Northwest Calgary Athletic Association (NWCAA) Bruins U16 AAA. Again, he continued with his form, and this time he was even better. He scored 24 goals and provided 25 assists in just 37 games that he played. With total points of 49, no other player in the league had more goals or assists than him.
Afterward, he moved to Calgary Flames U18 AAA in the same season, where he had a short spell in the Alberta Midget Hockey League. He played only three games and provided one assist. In the 2020-21 season with the same Calgary Flames U18 AAA, but this time in the Alberta Elite Hockey League, Pilling played five games and scored two goals.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League was his next destination, where he joined the Canmore Eagles. Unfortunately, he didn’t play any games with the Eagles when the Moose Jaw Warriors came calling.
He has since joined the Moose Jaw Warriors for the 2021-22 season.
The special one, Pilling, has already started showing the Moose Jaw Warriors fans why the club went for him. In the preseason game against the Swift Current Broncos, the Moose Jaw Warriors won the game 6 – 1, and Pilling saw the net twice. The Warrior faithful are just eager to see the things he will do when the regular season begins.
As the Moose Jaw Warriors head coach Mark O’Leary once said concerning the league games, “It is a good opportunity to realise that this league is hard sometimes, but finding a way to win even when it’s not pretty, is a good experience.”
Indeed, with the presence of Nathan Pilling on the team, finding a way to win will not be that difficult.
