Normal West earns intercity volleyball tournament title
NORMAL, Ill. — Congratulations to Coach Kelsey Mueller and her Wildcat volleyball team for winning 2021 Intercity Volleyball Championship on Saturday. With five local high schools participating, it’s always a fun tournament to battle it out in a day full of play against the local competition.
The Wildcats were led by Averie Hernandez who had a tournament total of 57 kills, Sydney Sennett who accumulated 90 assists, Emma Rink served up 8 aces, Sydnie Hernandez and her solid defense led the team with 47 digs, and Alannah Blanks did a fantastic job at the net with 9 blocks.
Normal West went 4-0 on the day to capture the title. Scores were as follows:
- NCWHS beat Bloomington 25-13, 25-18
- NCWHS beat Uhigh 25-14, 25-12
- NCWHS beat NCHS 14-25, 29-27, 27-25
- NCWHS beat Central Catholic 25-15, 25-17
