Falcon High School’s golf team looks to improve on regional appearance

PEYTON, Colo. — Tony Goodman is the head coach of the Falcon High School Golf team.  With the assistance of Wayne Reorda and a dedicated group of young men this is only the second team in school history to qualify a team for 4A State and finished Regional Runner-up.

This year they have competed in 3 tournaments thus far.  They finished 1st place in one, finished 9th in a Kadet Invite which had the best teams in the State and without 4 of their top players.  They also finished 4th in the Pueblo Centennial Invite without their number one player.  At that tournament they also had a player break 80 and finished in the top 4.

Their goal this year is to return to 4A State and to finish in the top 3.  Last year they got a taste of that 4A State competition and according to Coach Goodman, “making it that far was beyond belief. This season we have an expectation to get to State, however, our goal is to win State!”

How do they get hyped up as a team for competition?  Coach Goodman says, “We have a feeling of being ‘that team’, always left out and it makes us feel as if we have something to prove.  We use that as our fuel.”
