Ty Randolph and Bradwell Institute Tigers boys basketball team work hard to put their losing streak behind them

HINESVILLE, Ga. — Long before the basketball season begins, the Bradwell Institute Tigers coaching staff prepares to give a great showing. This team has had some poor performances in the last two seasons and is now trying to redeem itself in the current season, accompanied by Coach Ty Randolph.

Randolph is one coach with an amazing track record; he was part of the Harlem Globetrotters when he was young. But Randolph stepped away from the spotlight on the court to instead focus on training kids who love the sport and leave a legacy.

Before being part of the Tigers, the coach went through several teams, such as the Groves Rebels for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, who under his command reached an overall record of 37-19 and reached the playoffs in both seasons. After his retirement, the coach supported the NBA player Kwame Brown, playing with the Detroit Pistons.

The coach has also trained Lanier’s offensive line, with which he played for four years, and simultaneously, Randolph coached the women’s basketball team.

With the men’s basketball team, the coach set a record of 80-30, and in their final season, the Bulldogs reached an overall record of 22-6.

However, his time with the Bulldogs ended in 2019 when he left the team to join Bradwell. Randolph felt the Tigers needed a roster change, considering the team went through four coaches during five seasons. So it was time for the star coach to help young Tigers who haven’t gotten far in basketball.

Randolph admits that after his departure with the Bulldogs, he had several proposals to coach teams outside of Georgia. However, the coach was attracted to Bradwell and that passion that his players show in every game.

The coach was looking to reinforce the Tigers to forget those bad scores they gave in previous seasons. The team played for Chauncey Shines in the 2019 season and finished with an overall score of 2-23 and a league record of 0-8.

Randolph entered his first season with the Tigers looking to make big changes for the program. Last season Bradwell had 5 wins and 13 losses as an overall record and a league score of 2-10, but it was not enough for the team, so the coach took advantage of the free time between seasons to train his athletes.

Randolph is coming up with a new lineup for the basketball team, avoiding making past mistakes. The coach and the team feel ready to open the season on Nov. 20 when they face Liberty Country. For Randolph, he hopes he can bring the Tigers back to their winning ways this season and set a standard for years to come.
