Nick Patterson: Mooresville quarterback and star athlete
MOORESVILLE, Ind. — Star junior quarterback for the Mooresville Pioneers, Nick Patterson, is in his second year as the starter and continues making a name for himself.
After Moorseville finished the 2020 season with a record of 12-2, expectations were high heading into 2021. Patterson, who led the charge in 2020, is looking to recreate some of that magic.
Throwing for 21 passing touchdowns to go along with over 700 rushing yards, Patterson proved that he was the real deal in 2020. He also rushed for 20 touchdowns that year.
Mooresville knew immediately that they had a special player who could take their team to the next level. Ultimately, Patterson gives them a chance to win every game no matter their opponent.
In 2021, Patterson has already surpassed his touchdown total from 2020, and he is currently on pace to put up some big numbers for the season. His passing efficiency is also much improved.
Patterson is doing much better this year than last year in just about every major statistical category. The star quarterback is completing nearly 70% of his passes in 2021 and he is averaging more than 300 total yards of offense per game.
Let’s also not overlook the fact that Patterson has a record of 17-4 as the starting quarterback for Mooresville. In other words, he is quickly establishing a winning pedigree in high school.
Mooresville is sitting at a 5-2 record through seven games in 2021, with two losses against league opponents. But despite some early setbacks, the hope is that Mooresville can gain some momentum heading into the playoffs.
Patterson continues to demonstrate that he has the confidence and abilities to help his team succeed. However, he will also have to play a huge role in how Mooresville performs during the second half of the season.
Moorseville still has yet to face the East Central Trojans and Roncalli Royals — two non-conference teams that have a combined record of 13-1.
Now the question remains — what can we expect from Patterson in 2022 during his senior season? The star quarterback has shown flashes of brilliance, but will he take another crucial step forward in his development?
Ultimately, fans know that Patterson is a competitor who can make big plays when called upon. If anything is certain about 2022, it’s that Mooresville has a lot of optimism about the success of their football team.
