Syracuse women’s lacrosse welcomes former Boston College Eagle Kenzie Kent

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (BVM) – Syracuse women’s lacrosse welcomes Kenzie Kent to the coaching staff. Kent will coach alongside new head coach Kayla Treanor, forming a power duo on the side lines.

This isn’t their first time being a pair, as Treanor was Kent’s former Boston College coach.

From Norwell, Massachusetts, Kent is a former All- American and graduate of Boston College. She previously coached Harvard to a 3-3 record during the 2020 spring season.

As a student athlete at Boston College, Kent not only excelled in an academically challenging environment and a competitive Division I lacrosse program, but she was also a part of the Division I women’s hockey team. At the beginning of her Boston College career, Kent earned the 2017 ACC Mary Garber award as the conference’s Female Athlete of the Year. She led the 2017 season with 77 goals in just 12 games. In 2019, Kent led the nation in scoring with 127 points, 52 goals, and 75 assists.

Boston College calls Kent, “One of the most versatile athletes in the NCAA and the ACC Female Athlete of the Year.”

In her hockey career, Kent took the Eagles to three Frozen Fours. As a freshman she was the country’s fourth leading scorer among her age group and year. She also played in all 39 games her first year at BC. Kent completed her hockey career with the Eagles tied for eighth in the program’s history, bringing in 138 points.

Syracuse women’s lacrosse is coming off a fantastic season and advanced to the NCAA tournament title game for the third time in program history under head coach Gary Gait. Gait led the team to a record of 197 wins and 71 losses throughout his career and took the program to two national championship games, even facing Boston College in 2021. Overall, the team has claimed six conference titles and three conference tournament crowns under the former head coach.

Gait closed out his time with the women’s team as a 10-time NCAA champion, winning three titles as a player at Syracuse, and seven as an assistant coach at the University of Maryland.

Kent and Treanor’s backgrounds aren’t shy of Gait’s. The new head coach also had her share of success as a four-time All-American, while playing for the Orange in 2013-16. With the team’s impressive records, this upcoming spring season is looking strong.
