Midfielder Noah Abraham plays key role in team’s success

ST. LOUIS — Webster University men’s soccer midfielder Noah Abraham has had quite the college career thus far.

Debuting as a freshman last year, Abraham was a key factor in the team’s run to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics Conference title, amassing 11 points with three goals and five assists.

Fast forward to this year, and the Webster Gorloks have won nine straight games. Abraham himself is off to a hot start as he has recorded four goals and five assists for 13 points in total. He has also earned quite an honor this year, bringing home the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 4-10.

And it should come as no surprise. Abraham has been a key player on offense for the Gorloks. He racked up eight total points during the week, with three goals and two assists as Webster recorded two shutouts.

Abraham has a history of dominance on the soccer pitch. Originally from Hazelwood, Abraham put together a very impressive resume during his days playing for Hazelwood West High School. In 2017, his sophomore year, he was named the Junior Varsity Offensive Player of the Year.

The next year, he joined the varsity team where he would eventually become the captain. There, he scored two goals and racked up eight assists in his junior year and took home team MVP honors.

Entering his senior year in 2019, Abraham picked up right where he left off, putting up even bigger numbers than the previous year. He would go on to score 11 goals and tally nine assists. He also played club soccer for Scott Gallagher Premier Black. In the 2019-20 season, his team was ranked fourth in the entire state of Missouri.

Abraham was just as impressive off the pitch as he was, and still is, on it. He was a star student in the classroom as well, earning an All-Academic selection in 2019, along with a Business Academic Excellence Award as a member of the honors program called West Prep, which is geared towards helping minority students to achieve academic success.

His academic prowess and soccer talent have translated into his college career. As a student at Webster, he is a Business Administration major. And now, as a standout player for the Gorloks and recent Player of the Week, Abraham’s soccer resume continues to grow. He’s been a key piece of Webster’s team so far this year, a team that is red-hot and hungry for another conference title.

He doesn’t plan on being done anytime soon. He says he wants to stay involved in sports in some way, possibly as a coach, following his graduation.

Whatever he decides to do next, and wherever that takes him, his impressive soccer resume precedes him.
