McCallie Blue Tornado stay unbeaten as they seek to repeat as state champs
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — McCallie School football kept their undefeated season alive Friday night with a 38-21 home district win over Father Ryan (Nashville).
Using a masterful offensive performance, the Blue Tornado took a 28-14 lead into the half, and primarily allowed their defense to hold strong the rest of the way, allowing them to coast to the easy win. Senior quarterback William Riddle continued his strong play on the season, going 16-26 for 282 yards and five touchdowns, bringing his season totals to 28 touchdowns (three rushing) and zero interceptions.
With the solid passing performance, it’s important to give Riddle’s receivers some love, as well. Leading the way, Canada native Xavier Gaillardetz hauled in six passes for 165 yards and one score. Not to be outdone, fellow senior wideout Kenzy Paul pulled in three catches, but all three were for TDs.
On top of the passing game, running back Damian Scott (Class of 2023) added a monstrous 265 yards on the ground on 26 carries.
To go along with the offensive outburst, which accounted for 556 yards, the McCallie defense did their part as well, holding the Fightin’ Irish to 343 yards of total offense.
The victory pushes the Blue Tornado winning streak to 11 as they continue on their quest to become back-to-back state champions.
Their next matchup is Friday, Oct. 22 as they host Clearwater Academy International (FL) at 7:30 p.m.
