Centerville HS boys soccer team returns to action with key players

CENTERVILLE, Ohio — Centerville High School boys’ varsity soccer came into the 2021 season with pretty high expectations. Last season’s team had a great run in the post season state tournament, making it to the regional finals.

A fairly young team in 2020 means more experience and higher expectations for 2021. Key returning players for 2021 include Drew Boettcher, a senior midfielder who was 2nd Team All State in 2020, with 20 goals and 16 assists. Also returning from 2020 is sophomore goalkeeper Luke Shrivers. A freshman starter in 2020, Luke had a stellar season and looks to build on that.

The future is bright in goal for the Elks! The boys bring a lot of experience and a very deep bench, which will be helpful to make it through a tough regular season and Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) schedule.

Alumni Stadium, the home of Centerville soccer, got a big upgrade this year. New LED lights were installed, and the field looks amazing. This upgrade will reduce the cost to run the lights and has a dramatic effect on the field.
