Projected No.1 QB for Class of 2026 Julian Lewis already has DI offers

CARROLLTON, Ga. (BVM) — One week before he turned 14, quarterback Julian Lewis was personally extended a full-ride scholarship offer from Florida head coach Dan Mullen. By Sept. 16, Penn State and Georgia Tech followed with their offers for Lewis who is currently projected by QB Hit List to be the No. 1 player in his position within the Class of 2026.

“It’s a blessing that schools are talking to me about playing quarterback,” Lewis said. “I’m shocked, but I know I have a long way to go and I’ll just keep working and see where I finish in the end. I’m blessed to have great trainers and coaches who have experience with top QBs.”

One of those coaches includes Ron Veal who, among many things, is known for his work with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields when they were also young.

“Julian is right in that same category as them,” Veal said. “All three started out young and developed in different ways. Trevor was earlier in his development, Justin came later and I would say Julian is right in the middle of both of them in terms of developmental growth. I could see from when Julian was just 8 years old that he was going to be something special.”

Lewis has already made some unofficial visits, including to Florida, Georgia Tech and this past weekend he took a trip to Clemson. He noted that he’s mostly visiting schools to see what game day is like and that he talks mostly with his dad about each program.

A huge reason why coaches have noticed Lewis in recent weeks is because — although he’s in middle school — he’s already had a taste of success with high school ball. This year, the coaches at Carrollton Jr. High School made the decision to have him play on the ninth grade team at Carrollton.

“I learned a lot considering the plays were more advanced and the players were much faster,” Lewis said. “I was excited about the opportunity because I knew it would help get me ready for next year.”

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound eighth grader ultimately led the ninth grade team to an undefeated season which consisted of seven games. The season concluded two weeks ago and Lewis finished with 1,104 passing yards and threw 16 touchdowns.

“We had a great season playing against the best ninth grade teams in Atlanta,” Lewis said. “Our defense was amazing, we have so many good athletes on offense and our playbook is really good.”

Looking into his future, only time will provide an answer to the question: can he become the No. 1 most sought-after QB in the country?

“All in God’s plan, I think he has the ability to do that,” Veal said. “Over the years, he has been developing really nicely in terms of his body structure, his mechanics and his understanding of the game. He just has to stay healthy, continue to develop his body, remain humble and be in a situation where the school lets him display his talents.”

With his school season now being over, Lewis said the next action he’s looking forward to is at the FBU National Championships. He helped his team win the national title over the past two years and he’s already the first QB to be chosen for the game this year. He noted that he’s also excited about the Under Armour Futures All-American game since he’s dreamt of being chosen since he started middle school.

With some big games coming up, Lewis plans to take those opportunities to show off his playing abilities until he starts high school next year.

“His biggest attribute is throwing the ball on time and his accuracy,” Veal said. “He’s ready to go at the varsity level since I think he’s ahead of the game compared to other kids.”

“Expect hard work out of me over these next years,” Lewis said. “I’m excited to learn from Coach King and have fun at the high school level. My goal is really just to get better every week and help my team to bring Carrollton some championships.”
