CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Cedar Falls senior and Upper Iowa football commit Caeden Janssen has had to take on a new role this season due to injuries of both Cedar Falls Quarterbacks. Janssen entered the season as a member of an elite wide receiver duo that also features UNI basketball commit Trey Campbell. Janssen went into week eight with 22 catches for 354 yards and 4 touchdowns along with a 3 touchdown performance against Dubuque Hempstead. That performance tied the school record for receiving touchdowns in a single game. Following that accomplishment, Janssen took over as one of several quarterbacks for the Cedar Falls Tigers.

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Caeden Janssen: Be the best I can be and help win games for my team.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Janssen: Knowing what to do against a certain defense and how to beat it.

Who has been influential in helping your growth in this sport?
Janssen: My parents, brother and coaches.

What do you love about your sport?
Janssen: It’s a team sport and every player on the team has to do their job in order for the team to win.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Janssen: Yes I do the same things and wear the same clothes every gameday.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Janssen: I like to hang out with my family and friends.

What has being a member of a team taught you?
Janssen: Be a good teammate and be positive when things go wrong and don’t dwell on the past.

What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Janssen: Worry about what you can control and focus on what you need to do to help your team win.

Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Janssen: Talking too much and worrying about things I can’t control. I had to start worrying about things I can control and not worry about what I can’t.
