Philadelphia Flyers Warriors shine on the ice at USA Hockey Warrior Classic in Sewell

SEWELL, N.J. — Washington Township’s Hollydell Ice Arena was one of two sites of the 2021 USA Hockey Warrior Classic, held November 5-7. Every game was free and open to the public during the national tournament, which featured more than 400 disabled men and women hockey athletes who are either veterans or active members of the military. Games were also played at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees.

Nearly 30 teams competed and were spread across several tiers based on playing ability. The Philadelphia Flyers Warriors served as the host team, and three of their squads came away as champions in their respective divisions.

Among the Philadelphia Flyers legends on hand included United States Hockey Hall of Fame inductees Mark Howe, Paul Holmgren and John LeClair — as well as public address announcer, Lou Nolan; national anthem singer, Lauren Hart; and beloved mascot, Gritty.

The Flyers Warriors were founded in December 2018 and were soon after officially adopted as a Philadelphia Flyers-NHL affiliate, following their joint $50,000 donation. For more information, visit www.usahockey.com/warriorclassic.
