Get to know Viera High’s head swim coach Chris Beadle

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The coach talks to the swimmers as they stand behind their starting blocks, getting the last-minute stress out, and loosening up any muscles they need to before it is time to be ready to go. Up to the block they go, surveying the water, looking at their lane, and focusing on the task at hand – to have a great start and finish strong. The countdown starts and then the buzzer goes off. Into the pool, the swimmers go!

Chris Beadle is the Head Swim Coach for Viera High School. Coach Beadle has been coaching for over 6 years and a competitive swimmer for 16 years including at Florida State. An All-American, national swimmer, and Cocoa HS record holder, she coaches swimming for Viera High School as well as Rockets Swimming.

Beadle began coaching because of her love for swimming, but also she is very passionate that everyone should know how to swim, especially children and people who live in Florida. Having weather that allows for the use of the pool and ocean for almost twelve months a year, knowing how to swim is important for saving lives.

Coaching is fun for her. Beadle provides a positive environment for her swimmers to be successful and believes that coaching is all about them and what they can do. She approaches each season with positivity, excitement, and endless possibilities. In addition, Coach Beadle believes in all of her swimmers and models great sportsmanship as she cheers for all swimmers, whether on her team or not, as everyone needs encouragement.

Coach Beadle has had some great moments in coaching and one she sees almost every day is helping eliminate the fear in a swimmer and helping them realize that they can move across the water. In addition to great moments, she has had memorable victories when her first year coaching at Viera, the girls’ team won Districts and the boys were Runner Ups! It didn’t stop there as the same thing happened her second year.

Every great coach has a coaching philosophy. Coach Beadle believes in making swimming fun, teaching life lessons, encouraging team bonding, and the kids and coaches motivating each other along the way.

Coach Beadle has the right focus in place and will continue to have successful athletes as her passion for the sport, knowledge, and desire to help all kids will make her a great leader for her swimmers and a great representative of the sport.
