Forge FC’s Woobens Pacius stands out in the CPL

HAMILTON, Ont. — Woobens Pacius is a 20-year-old Canadian forward who plays for Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League, the country’s professional soccer league. In his first season in Hamilton, he has established himself as one of the top scorers. Despite his youth, he contributes a lot in the attack zone, which is why he is one of the favorite players of head coach Bobby Smyrniotis.

Pacius’ career began with the Montreal Impact, an MLS club, he excelled in different categories. In the 2017-2018 season, with the U16 / 17 team, this powerful forward provided 10 goals and an assist in the nine games he played. From that moment on, the soccer world began to know of this promising young player, who did not take long to make the leap to professionalism.

Pacius’ debut in the CPL was in August 2021, when he scored two goals against Atlético Ottawa. The scene could not have been better that day. Tim Hortons Field witnessed the birth of a promising soccer player for Canadian soccer. With an undeniable knack for scoring, the Forge FC striker proved to be lethal in front of goalkeepers. Those two goals were worthy of an elite center forward.

As time passed, the promising youngster gained the trust of Smyrniotis, who also trained in Greece with Olympiacos. After that performance in August, Pacius had a great month of September. He scored three more goals for Forge FC, against Atlético Ottawa, York United, and Valour FC. The Canadian forward also won multiple man of the match awards.

Part of Forge FC’s success in 2021 is thanks to the contributions of Pacius and the six goals and two assists he has had during the CPL regular season. Now, with the playoffs beginning soon, the 20-year-old will try to continue to play well so that Forge FC can win its third consecutive title and keep the cup in the city of Hamilton.

Another challenge that Pacius will have at the end of the year will be the CONCACAF League. In this competition, Forge FC will play against Motagua from Honduras in the semifinals. If they advance to the final, they could play against Comunicaciones or Guastatoya, both from Guatemala. The moment to shine has arrived for Pacius. Time will tell how far he can go.
