Dacula’s Kelli Poff is the new athletic director at Seckinger High
DACULA, Ga. — Kelli Poff had been associated with Dacula High School for years. She graduated from the school in 1999 and she became the softball coach at the school in 2019. She joined her alma mater’s program after years of coaching softball at a few other high schools in the state.
Poff also played softball while attending Dacula under the tutelage of Tracy Keefer, the softball coach that Poff replaced. She was on the school’s final slow pitch softball team during her freshman year. She spent the next three seasons competing with the Falcons’ fastpitch softball team.
Poff’s experience in sports and leading students in sport will carry over to the next chapter in her life. She will be the new athletic director at Seckinger High School, a brand-new high school opening in August 2022. The school will support the Mountain View and Mill Creek areas, two segments that are partially covered by Dacula. The recent growth in the area has led to the need to produce more high schools.
Poff is excited to join Seckinger in their inaugural year of operation.
“I am proud to work alongside (Principal Memorie) Reesman and the new staff at Seckinger to cultivate an inclusive high school experience that grows, impacts and inspires our students, athletes, and the entire Jaguar community,” Poff said in a statement released by the school.
“I have helped to create a top-notch program that focuses on growing people first,” she added in the same announcement from the school.
Poff’s athletic experience after graduating from Dacula includes playing collegiate softball at Darton and West Georgia. She also has multiple years as a high school softball coach, first with Bacon County and Woodland-Stockbridge, and eventually back at her alma mater in Dacula. She also has experience working at the Champions Sports Complex in Orlando, one of the top athletic facilities of its kind in the state.
Poff’s first work at Seckinger will be to find the right coaches who will lead the inaugural Jaguars programs. The school will also need help in ordering athletic equipment and getting their new playing fields ready for operation. The hope is that the Seckinger Jaguars will be ready for play as the school opens for operation in August 2022. Poff’s experience in operating high school sports activities will be critical to allowing the school to thrive and become a prominent figure in high school sports in the Atlanta area.
