Rumson-Fair Haven boys soccer concludes as ‘longest any RFH team has played into a season’

RUMSON, N.J — What a dynamic season those Bulldogs had! Unfortunately, on November 16th in the state tournament against the unstoppable Delran team, their dream of winning came to an end. Not to be let down, Coach Soares said, “This is the longest any RFH team has played into a season and that’s something to be proud of.” The Final Score: 6-2.

Fair Haven senior Nicholas Calabretta has been playing soccer since he was seven years old and played with many of these boys from a young age due to their affiliation with the Peninsula soccer league as well as through the Knollwood school team. He adds, “We were able to overcome our slump near the end of the regular season and in the Shore Conference Tournament and win State Sectionals. The bonding and friendships that occurred on and off the field across all four grades is amazing.”

He adds, “It was really special being the first team in RFH history to win State Sectionals. The adrenaline rush was electrifying. I remember waking up the next day, wondering if I was dreaming about being State Sectional champs and realizing it was real. It is a memory I will never forget. It was great ending my senior year on such a high note.”
