Dylan Salomon: Charlotte soccer’s goal-scoring machine

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Soccer continues to grow very fast in the United States. In Florida, more and more professional teams are dabbling in this popular sport. Two of these teams belong to the MLS: Inter Miami and Orlando City. In the USL, there are also two organizations: Miami FC and Tampa Bay Rowdies. In territories such as Punta Gorda, soccer has become competitive. That is why Charlotte High School has been in charge of forming a team full of talent led by Dylan Salomon, a striker with unique talents that foreshadow future success, including a possible career with the best leagues in the country.

Salomon is 17 years old and will graduate from Charlotte High School in 2022. He is currently in his senior year with the Fighting Tarpons, where he is led by coach Greg Winkler, a teacher, speaker and author with a master’s degree in sports management. Winkler’s work for the excellent performance of his players is crucial. As he explains in his social networks, his goal is to make a difference in all the projects he is involved in. In the case of the young forward, it seems that he has not been wrong because he has all the earmarks to one day be able to be a star.

Salomon is a robust, tall and powerful forward. His dominant foot is the left. He can withstand loads from opponents in the area to create scoring opportunities. In the 2020-21 season, he played 15 games, scored 12 goals and had five assists. He even won several man-of-the-match awards for performances in which he scored hat-tricks.

Salomon has a promising career. Under the conditions described above, he could become an elite striker. When he is in front of the goalkeeper, he rarely fails, and in situations of penalties or free kicks, he usually raises his hand to take charge.

In the 2021-22 season, Salomon has been a critical player for the Fighting Tarpons. In four games, he had registered three goals in addition to a Player of the Game award, which he won on Nov. 13 after his team defeated the Gateway Eagles, the game where Salomon had his first brace this year.

The season is young, but Salomon has become one of the players to watch for the year. For Punta Gorda and Charlotte High School, the Fighting Tarpons are a source of pride, and it will be interesting to see the team’s accomplishments throughout the year.
