Tar Heels punch ticket to NCAA women’s volleyball tournament

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Carolina volleyball team has earned an at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament, the NCAA announced on Sunday night. It’s the 19th NCAA Tournament bid in program history and the first since 2016.

The Tar Heels travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the first two rounds of the tournament, hosted by the No. 9 national seed Ohio State.

The Tar Heels (21-8, 10-8 ACC) will face Tennessee (19-9, 11-7 SEC) in the first round this Friday at 5 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to the second round and face the winner of Ohio State-Howard on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.

UNC is one of six ACC teams in the field, which includes Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Florida State and Miami.
