As a young team, we knew we had a lot of potential and talent. This season we saw our boys grow a lot as golfers both in their swing and score performance but also their mental approach to the game and their ability to collect themselves and show composure. As a young squad, our metal composure was a key focus. The state tournament was a great demonstration of the growth they all made.
.
Brad Weinmaster broke out to an early lead and finished day one on top. This was a huge testament to his growth and determination this season. He has been right on the cusp so many times and on day one he put it together. Will Balliet, AJ Sweeney, and Carter Seisshowed up as well. At one point on day two, Will was a couple of strokes off the lead. Another testament to a young man who found himself constantly grinding through many tournaments this season but never gave up and ended leading us in scoring. Aiden found a grove and never really left it. A constant and consistent golfer for us this season, Aiden won our regional tournament and was key to keeping us in the lead throughout day one and day two. Watching his focus and course management was exciting both days and he showed incredible growth in comparison to his freshman debut at state.
.
Our youngest gun at the state tournament was Carter Sies, who got his first taste of State Level competition. The exposure to this level of competition is going to be nothing but provide a focal point for him to reach in the off-season. Throughout the season, his constant level-headed approach and positive mindset have been a huge addition for our team and was on display at state as he found himself in some tough situations, but battled through to help us stay on top.

This season we were blessed beyond measure with great kids on both varsity and JV teams, great parents, and a staff of coaches that worked their tails off. The coaches we have on-staff have a commitment and determination about them that is unparalleled. Kim Jackson, asst. Varsity coach, Wade Balliet, parent volunteer Varsity coach,  and Darren Rhodes, head JV coach combined to make practices and tournaments places where these players were supported, cared for, challenged, and directed. I am so honored to have these individuals leading our team. Their commitment to our boys played a huge role in the level of competition, mental durability, and improvement seen this season that ultimately resulted in Riverdale Ridge High School first team state championship.
