SPIRE Institute forward Nicolo Nobili goes from Italy to Boston University
SEWELL, N.J. — Nicolò Nobili is an athletic power forward who is taking his talents to Boston University after completing his senior year at SPIRE Institute. Nobili decided to attend SPIRE Institute as a post-graduate student after attending Paul VI. In his junior season, he averaged 10.2 points per game for Paul VI. His junior season was his first year at Paul VI after moving to the United States from Italy.
Boston University has found some success the last few seasons and have started the season on an impressive note as they sit at 8-3 on the season. Adding Nobili will give the Terriers size, athleticism and a player who can stretch the floor. He said he loved every part about Boston University and that’s why he decided to go there.
“I chose BU because when I took my official visit, I really liked everything about it,” Nobili said. “The coaching staff and the team are really good people and I could feel the sense of family on the team as well as on campus. The campus is really nice because it’s 10 minutes from downtown Boston and even if it’s a city campus, you can feel the vibe of the school. Boston is a really beautiful city and a young, populated city so it’s perfect for college students.”
Before he gets to Boston University, he is looking to improve his game not only from a physical standpoint, but from his individual skill. He decided to attend SPIRE Institute because they offer him exactly that. It gave him another year of development before he starts a tough NCAA career at Boston University. SPIRE has some impressive alumni who decided to do the same thing as Nobili including NBA star LaMelo Ball. Nobili is excited to travel with his team as they play games all over the United States.
“The most exciting thing about this season is probably traveling with my team,” Nobili said “We’re going to travel a lot and play a lot of games which will be really fun because we mesh really well together.”
Nobili has had an interesting high school career that has seen him not be able to play as many games as a star player like him hopes for due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even with a shortened season, he showed college coaches that he is a high-level player and will make any program better. With his first season at SPIRE, he is excited to get better as a player and win as much as his team can with their competitive schedule.
“My goal for the year is to get better both physically and on my individual skills and get ready for next year in college,” Nobili said. “Obviously, I want to win as many games as we can.”
Nobili has an exciting future. He has shown throughout his player career that he is going to be a force at the collegiate level playing against the best competition that college basketball has to offer. The transition from the high school to Division I level isn’t easy, but for someone who works as hard as Nobili does, he will find the same success he has throughout his career.
