The Tavares Bulldogs: Steadily progressing under Coach Kraemer

TAVARES, Fla. — In 2019, Timothy Kraemer was named the head coach of the Tavares Bulldogs after head coach Gary Dugger stepped down in December of that year to pick up a coaching job at Enterprise High School in Alabama, his alma mater. Before Kraemer was named the head coach, he was the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs. It was no surprise to many that he emerged as the head coach because he had proven to have all it takes to lead the team while he was the defensive coordinator.

In 2019, Coach Kraemer led the Bulldogs to an impressive victory in a game against Umatilla when Coach Dugger was unavailable due to personal reasons. The Bulldogs won the game 60-0. This was one of the best scoring records the Bulldogs had that season.

Under Coach Dugger, the Bulldogs earned nine consecutive game victories, running almost three seasons. Before leaving, he led Tavares to a 5-5 record in the 2019 season.

Prior to joining the Tavares High School football team in 2018, Coach Traemer was the assistant coach at Starke Bradford and Davenport Ridge Community. His building strategy was simple, and he intends to take advantage of his familiarity with the Tavares Bulldogs to build not just the football team but also his coaching career.

“The players know me, and I know them,” Coach Kraemer said after his appointment as the new head coach of the Tavares Bulldogs. “I’m going to try to put together the best coaching staff I can hire and build on the successes we had last season.”

In the shortest possible time, he intends to take the team to the next football championship. This was not just a wish, as Kraemer has led the Tavares Bulldogs to several victories.

On Oct. 1, 2021, the Bulldogs won another game without a single touchdown from the opponents under Kraemer. They defeated Saint Cloud 35-0 in the nonconference challenge. The Bulldogs also won another game on Oct. 23, 2021. The game was against Eustis, and they won 42-14. This win was a memorable one as it gave the Bulldogs their first-ever high school football championship since the 2004 season.

The Bulldogs are now back to their winning streak. They defeated the Winter Garden Foundation Academy Lions 35-10 on Nov. 4, 2021.

“This is a great win for the seniors,” Coach Kraemer said in an interview after the game. “In the past we’ve struggled with teams, so we know we are good.”

The coach promised Tavares High School to build on the success from the previous season, and in just two years, it is clear that he means to keep every part of the promise he made.
