Marc Andrew Baur Jr. ready to succeed with Monarchs

CHAPIN, S.C. – Marc Andrew Baur Jr. is an 18-year-old baseball player from Chapin, South Carolina. His mother is Marianne Baur, and he has two siblings who are girls, Mary and Emma Baur. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Chapin High School in South Carolina.

Baur has the build of an athlete standing at five feet eleven inches with a weight of 165-pounds and rightly so because he played baseball throughout his stay at Chapin High School, from freshman year to senior year. His primary position is catching, but he also plays as the right-hand pitcher (RHP). He was on the boy’s varsity baseball team of his high school and he also played for the Carolina Combat Baseball Club. Baur is now a freshman at Methodist University and is an active part of their baseball team: the Methodist University Monarchs.

In a personal statement by the athlete on Next College Student Athlete (NCSA), Baur explained that his goal in college would not end at just playing baseball, but graduating with a degree that would get him into Physical Therapy school after college. He prides himself on being a very hard worker and an extremely flexible, coachable individual.

I am a natural right-handed hitter who has worked tirelessly to hone my ability to switch hit. I have mastered the ability to multitask, which allows me to excel both in the classroom and on the diamond. I am very sociable and a supportive teammate. I understand that I have to earn my playing time and will do whatever it takes to get on the field. I feel that my biggest differentiator from other candidates is that I know that in order to achieve my dreams, I have to focus fully on both school and baseball. Nothing is a given and everything is earned. I feel that another asset I bring to the table is that I have great knowledge of the game from playing both catcher and pitcher throughout my baseball career. I am able to play anywhere on the field, but have focused my development in the areas of catching and pitching.

Baur will major in kinesiology during his stay at Methodist University and continue to play baseball.
