Hebron’s Takoda Bridges commits to Northern Arizona
HEBRON, Texas — Hebron Hawks wide receiver Takoda Bridges announced he is committing to play at Northern Arizona University in 2022. The senior was the leading receiver for the Hawks in 2021 and showed his skills throughout the entire season, making him one of the top threats in the Dallas area.
“Thank you to everyone who doubted me!” Bridges said on Twitter. “After a long conversation with my family, I will be furthering my education and football career at Northern Arizona University.”

Bridges contributed most of the Hawks’ receiving yards in 2021. He had 1,393 receiving yards, more than half of the 2,731 yards that the team had in their eleven games. He also had 15 receiving touchdowns. He had a 33-yard touchdown pass in his one passing attempt this season. Bridges had the third-most receiving yards among all 6A wide receivers in the Dallas area.
One of his best games of the season came on Oct. 1 during a 48-34 victory over Flower Mound. Bridges had eight receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown during that game. His performance was a small part of the Hawks’ strong performance in that game, as they had 657 total offensive yards to defeat Flower Mound.
His work helped the Hawks get to the 6A-I playoffs, although the team lost to Allen in their one playoff game.
Bridges and many others on the Hebron Hawks roster worked their hardest to compete in 2021, especially after losing their first three games of the season.
“We learned we have to step on somebody if we get them down,” Hebron head coach Brian Brazil said. “I’m really proud of the way the kids have responded and bonded.”
Bridges was listed as a three-star recruit. He received multiple offers from schools like Illinois State and Presbyterian.
Bridges will be looking to help bring Northern Arizona back to the FCS playoffs. The Flagstaff-based Lumberjacks play in the Big Sky Conference. The team hasn’t reached the FCS playoffs since 2017. The Lumberjacks went 5-6 this past year, although one of their games was a victory over Arizona, their first victory against the Wildcats since 1932.
Bridges will also be playing in a completely different environment. Whereas Hebron is close to 600 feet above sea level, he’ll be playing at the second-highest football stadium in NCAA Division I. Flagstaff’s Walkup Skydome is about 6,900 feet above sea level, making it second behind Wyoming’s War Memorial Stadium for the highest elevation in Division I.
