Justin Smith: From Sparta youth flag football to senior star on gridiron Sparta HS

SPARTA, N.J. — Justin Smith, a senior at Sparta High School, shines both on and off the football field. Justin began his football career in the Sparta youth flag football program and continued working, learning and honing his football skills all the way through high school. In Sparta High’s September 17th 31-14 victory over Jefferson, Justin’s fumble recovery at the goal line late in the second quarter led to a 99-yard touchdown run, making him tied for the longest yards run for a touchdown in Sparta High School history.

Justin shares his football knowledge and experience through donating time coaching young Sparta athletes and creating workouts to help peers play the game to the best of their abilities.

He has also volunteered for Tilly’s Kids, an organization that teaches children in Newark and Irvington that they are loved by building their self esteem and providing food and clothing.

On the academic side, Justin excels in math and science, and has been on the honor roll every marking period from freshman to senior year. Justin is working towards becoming a pilot, and plans to join the United States Air Force as an officer following college graduation.
