Get to know Weston HS soccer captain Natalie Ladocsi

WESTON, Mass. — A photo of Natalie Ladocsi should accompany grit, determination, and leadership in the dictionary. The senior soccer captain led the Wildcats to the Dual County League Foley Division title and a trip to the “Sweet 16” of the newly formed MIAA State Tournament. A midfielder who at times would play center defender, Natalie always had a team-first attitude and tremendous leadership skills. She was the vocal field leader that provided a calming influence on teammates when times were tough and the fiery personality when it was time to step it up. No doubt a future coach in the making, Natalie has talents beyond her years. Receiving the coveted “Players Award” voted on by her teammates, she was also recognized as a Dual County League First Team All-Star.

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?

Ladocsi: Current Goal: To be the best leader I can be by setting an example and building up my teammates’ confidence. Future Goal: I want to coach my kid’s teams.

What is the best advice you were ever given?

Ladocsi: “I can accept failure; everyone fails at something. But I cannot accept not trying” — Michael Jordan.

What do you love about your sport?

Ladocsi: I love the speed and fast pace of both soccer and basketball. I also love the physicality of both sports. My favorite part of my game is ball movement and threading a pass through the defense.

Do you have a pregame ritual?

Ladocsi: I like to hype up my teammates during warm-ups. My co-captains and I would always tap our feet in the huddle for soccer. For basketball, when leaving the locker room, I tap the maroon sign that says: “Champions get better each time out.”

What do you do outside of sports/hobbies?

Ladocsi: I sing in the Weston High A cappella group, the Pralines. I am also the Chorus and Jazz President. In the spring, I perform in the spring musical.
