Byron Nelson HS has winningest season in school history

TROPHY CLUB, Texas — In their winningest season in Byron Nelson history, the BNHS Football team became Area Champions and Bi-District Champions. The Bobcats ended their record-breaking season 9-4, changing the culture of football at BNHS.

The 2021 Bobcat Football Program went 7-3 in their regular season (the best record in school history), and went on to three rounds of post-season play (the furthest post-season run in BHNS football history). And while the Bobcats are certainly celebrating and enjoying their accomplishments, they are already looking ahead to their 2022 season with the enthusiasm of a great season behind them, and determination and will for the season ahead.

The Bobcats not only performed well on the field, but off the field as well, with the most student athletes ever to qualify for Academic All State. Michael Giordano & Gavin Roark earning 1st Team, Miles Millican, Hunter Mena, Luke Pool, Kyle Diesch, Jacob Salazar and Harrison Lane earned 2nd Team. Honorable mentions included Troy Desmarais, Payton Self, Alex Ladd, Zach Johns, Cade Youngs and Kaden McDaniel.

Giving back to their community is also at the heart of our Bobcat football team. This was the first year of Touchdowns for Toys, a community toy drive, with which our Bobcats were honored to be involved. They are also looking forward to bringing up some younger football players with the Spring Flag season during which they enjoy coaching younger teams who will be the future of Bobcat Football.

The Bobcats had many players voted to the District Team, an honor given by all the coaches within the district. The following players were voted to the District 4 6-A 2nd Team: Noah Cortez (Defensive Tackle), Pierce Dahlin (Punter), Philo Tshilombo (Corner), David Kabongo (Safety), Garrin Johnson (Defensive End), Adam Stellato (Wide Receiver), and Kyle Diesch (Offensive Tackle). The following players were selected for the District 4 6-A 1st Team: Gavin McCurley (Wide Receiver), Michael Giordano (Running Back), and Landon Ransom (Utility Player of the Year). Jake Wilson (Quarterback) was selected as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

The Bobcat Football Team would like to thank their peers, teachers, trainers and coaches for their continual support; our stands were full, home and away.
