Green Run High School’s Tayon Holloway signs with UNC

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Tayon Holloway’s impact on Green Run High School’s varsity football season was largely felt after he turned down multiple offers to sign a letter of intent with the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

No wonder Green Run made it to the semifinals due to the talent that was on the roster, a roster that was led by standout 4-star cornerback Holloway. Holloway made a touchdown and led his team to win, making them one of the most dominant teams in Virginia Beach.

The last time Green Run High School won a championship was back in 1995, before Holloway and his teammates were even born. Although they did not win the championship this year either, they brought a lot of wins that had been few and far between in previous seasons.

Holloway, standing at 6-foot-1, was the architect of their success this season. His on-field progress did not go unnoticed as he picked up the award for Beach District Player of the Year, as well as the first team All-District at wide receiver and defensive back.

After achieving such huge awards, he got praise from his coach, Brandon Williams, who was confident about his performance and believed that the success they had this season wouldn’t have been possible without Holloway.

“Tayon was a big-time playmaker on both sides of the ball and in the return game for us,” Williams said.

It was not just awards Holloway was racking up, but offers from various football programs such as Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania, and numerous others. However, he finally chose to take his talents to the University of North Carolina (Tar Heels) after signing a letter of intent.

He was delighted when he announced his sign-up for UNC this Christmas because he thinks it can make him into one of the top defensive backs in college football, plus it’s also close to his home.

Williams agreed with Holloway’s decision to play for the University of North Carolina.

“I believe that his commitment to UNC is a great fit due to the family atmosphere they display there in Chapel Hill,” Williams said. “Tayon has a very bright future and wouldn’t be surprised if he plays early and often.”

There is, without a doubt, a lot of talent in Holloway, which will be beneficial for the Tar Heels. We can’t wait to see how he performs at UNC!
