Ollie Pasque chooses to stay local with his commitment to Eckerd College

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — The Tritons of Eckerd College gained a prolific scorer this November when Ollie Pasque announced his commitment. Pasque is averaging 20.8 points per game this year which leads Satellite High School and scored his 1,000th career point in December.

That prolific scoring ability is what led to his opportunity to play at the next level, but Pasque appreciates the people that helped him get there.

“It’s hard to thank the countless people who have driven me to practices and opened up gyms for me, but the truth is that these individuals have made all the difference,” he said.

Pasque approaches his commitment knowing that his hard work was allowed to blossom through the efforts of those around him. He understands that those that surround him and support him have had the greatest impact on his success.

“It’s the love and belief from those closest to me who convinced me to believe and invest in myself,” he said.

His support system is what has allowed his skills to manifest themselves, and Pasque understands the influence that has on his commitment to Eckerd College. Pasque has also expressed humility in his accomplishment.

“I am incredibly grateful and humbled to have this opportunity to play at the next level,” he added.

That kind of humility and skill have combined to make Pasque so impressionable on Eckerd College and grant him an opportunity to play at the next level. Along with his humility, Pasque has also expressed his anticipation.

“(I’m) beyond excited to be continuing my academic and athletic career at Eckerd College,” he said.

That excitement is one that is probably shared by the Tritons. Pasque is not only a natural scorer but also a complete player. He lead his team in scoring and defensive rebounds at almost five a game. Pasque is also at the top of his team in assist per game at nearly three.

That complete style of play is what has allowed Pasque to lead Satellite High School to a 13-2 record and undefeated through the first two games of conference play. The Tritons are hoping that Pasque will be able to continue this impact at the next level.

Eckerd College is off to a slow start with a record of 2-10 and 0-9 in their conference. However, their record does not tell the entire story. Three of their losses are attributed to COVID-19 forfeits and several other games were lost by three points or less.

Pasque’s skill and humility could be a cornerstone for Eckerd in taking the next step next season.
