Visitation School hires former Minnesota women’s soccer HC Mikki Denney Wright
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Min. — Soccer Coach, Mikki Denney Wright, as the next Head Coach of the Visitation soccer program. Coach Denney Wright is described as being one of the brightest minds in college soccer and one of the best leaders of young women.
Coach Wright led the University of Minnesota Gopher soccer program from 2004-2012 where she was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2008 and led the team to two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances (2008, 2010). She coached the most successful team in Gopher history in 2008 with a 22-4 record, winning the Big Ten Championship and earning a NCAA Sweet 16 Appearance.
Coach Wright was an accomplished high school and collegiate athlete, playing for the University of North Carolina alongside teammate Mia Hamm and was a member of the 1993 and 1994 national championship teams. In 1995, she transferred to finish her playing career at the University of Minnesota where she was team captain, two-time All-Big Ten and led her team to the 1995 Big Ten Championship. Since 2012, Coach Wright has been a local club soccer coach in the area.
