Tom House signs to play basketball at Florida State University

CENTERVILLE, Ohio — Tom House has committed to continue his athletic career at Florida State University after graduating from Centerville High School.

Florida State boasts one of the top basketball programs in the country. They’ve had a lot of success, not just this season, but over the last decade. They compete in the very competitive ACC conference, which is one of the reasons House chose Florida State.

With the help of a recent interview with Florida.State.Rivals.com, House had this to say about why he selected Florida State over Georgia, Fordham, Furman, Holy Cross and a slew of other schools.

“The initial interest was really how successful Coach Hamilton has been, but another big thing was how long that staff has been there and been together,” House said. “I knew they were doing something right, and that’s what really sparked the interest early on for me.”

Not only is Florida State one of the best teams in the country, but his Centerville High School team has had plenty of success this season, going 15-0 and 10-0 in the Greater Western Ohio League. Sharpshooter House’s outstanding performance is a significant reason for Centerville’s success this season.

Because of his success at Centerville, there is no reason to believe that he will not maintain his domination when he joins the Seminoles. Florida State is a school that plays with a fast pace on the offensive side of the ball, which is one reason House was attracted to Florida State.

“It’s kind of how my high school plays,” he said. “I have a really good point guard on my team, and I just think it’s an exciting way to play and a better way to play. You can get your opponent more sped up and frustrated and get more shots. You’ve just got to get the right guys to make shots.”

House is only scraping the surface of what he has the potential to become in the future. According to 247sports.com, he is already a three-star recruit in high school and the No. 258 player in the country. He spent his whole childhood as a swimmer and played basketball for fun until his sophomore year, when he then became serious about the sport. When he saw the sort of skills he has on the basketball court, he decided it was time to take basketball seriously since he believed he had a bright future.

House wants to end his high school career with a state championship in Ohio before heading to Florida State to assist the Seminoles win a national championship.
