IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Isaiah Thompson scored a career-high 18 points and Jaden Ivey had 15 in his return from a hip injury as No. 6 Purdue defeated Iowa 83-73 on Thursday night.

Thompson came in averaging just 5.7 points per game but shot 6 of 8 from the field — including 4 for 6 on 3-pointers.

Ivey, the team’s leading scorer at 16.7 points per game, missed Sunday’s 80-60 win at Northwestern. He didn’t start this one either, but played 21 minutes off the bench.

Sasha Stefanovic had 14 points for Purdue (17-3, 6-3 Big Ten). Trevion Williams added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Kris Murray led Iowa (14-6, 4-5) with 23 points and nine rebounds.

Iowa forward Keegan Murray, third in the nation in scoring at 22.8 points per game, played just nine first-half minutes after picking up two fouls. He finished with 14 points — 12 in the second half.

NO. 2 GONZAGA 89, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 55

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Freshman center Chet Holmgren scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots as Gonzaga pounded Loyola Marymount for its ninth straight victory.

Nolan Hickman had 11 points for Gonzaga (16-2, 5-0 West Coast Conference), which dropped behind top-ranked Auburn in the AP poll this week despite winning both its games last week. Gonzaga has won 63 consecutive home games, the longest streak in the nation.

Keli Leaupepe had 12 points for Loyola Marymount (9-9, 2-4), which has lost four of six. The Lions have dropped 25 straight games to Gonzaga dating to their last victory in 2010.

NO. 7 UCLA 81, CALIFORNIA 57

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored 15 points and UCLA routed California to give the Bruins sole possession of first place in the Pac-12 with their fifth straight win.

Nine players scored for the Bruins on a night when they were missing leading scorer Johnny Juzang, who was sidelined by COVID-19 protocols. Cody Riley added a season-high 14 points, and Jules Bernard and Peyton Watson had 12 apiece.

UCLA (15-2, 7-1 Pac-12) led by 18 in the first half. The Bruins had runs of 10-0, 8-0 and 6-0 while the Golden Bears committed nine of their 17 turnovers.

Cal (9-11, 2-7) dropped its season-high sixth in a row. The Bears were led by Sam Alajiki with 11 points off the bench.

NO. 11 WISCONSIN 73, NEBRASKA 65

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Brad Davison scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half, freshman Chucky Hepburn added 13 in his return to his home state, and Wisconsin defeated Nebraska.

Wisconsin (16-3, 7-2 Big Ten) bounced back from a 12-point home loss to Michigan State last Friday to win for the eighth time in nine games. The Badgers have won five consecutive conference road games.

Nebraska (6-14, 0-9) lost its seventh straight since a Dec. 22 win over Kennesaw State.

The game originally was scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed back two days to allow Nebraska to come out of a COVID-19 pause.

STANFORD 64, NO. 15 USC 61

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jaiden Delaire scored 14 points, Harrison Ingram added 12 — including the go-ahead layup — and Stanford completed its first sweep of Southern California in seven seasons.

The game was tied at 60 before Ingram’s layup with 33 seconds remaining. USC’s Isaiah Mobley got to the line on a loose ball foul with 14 seconds left but missed the second free throw. Brandon Angel hit his two foul shots three seconds later to put the Cardinal up by three.

The Trojans had a chance to send it to overtime but Mobley missed a 3-pointer with one second left.

Spencer Jones had 10 points for Stanford (12-6, 5-3 Pac-12), which handed the Trojans their first loss on Jan. 11 and have won two straight following three consecutive losses.

Drew Peterson led USC (16-3, 6-3) in scoring for the third straight game with 14 points.

NO. 16 OHIO STATE 75, MINNESOTA 64

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — E.J. Liddell had 23 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to help Ohio State muscle past Minnesota.

Liddell, who stretched his double-digit scoring streak to 27 games, became the 60th player in program history to pass 1,000 career points and led an overpowering effort by the Buckeyes on the glass. The rebounding margin was 48-22, more than enough to offset a quiet night for Ohio State’s outside shooters.

Kyle Young scored 14 points and Zed Key added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Buckeyes (13-4, 6-2 Big Ten), who played without point guard Jamari Wheeler — a foot injury keeping him out for the first time in his five-year career after 143 consecutive games.

Jamison Battle returned from an illness to score 15 points for the Gophers (11-6, 2-6).
