Nicolet HS inducts four into athletic hall of fame
GLENDALE, Wis. — Nicolet High School is proud to announce that three candidates have been selected from a pool of more than 50 nominees to the Class of 2021 Nicolet High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The candidates include two athletes: Curt Wycklendt (Class of ’72-football/swimming/track/baseball), Gary Taxman (Class of ’76-tennis) and one special contributor: Jim and Karyl Rosenberg (1993-2015).
Wycklendt earned an unbelievable 15 varsity letters in four different sports during his athletic career at Nicolet. Taxman played on three Knights boys tennis state championship teams, won two individual state tennis championships, and was inducted into the Nicolet Tennis Hall of Fame in 1996. The Rosenberg’s performed various athletic support roles in an incredible 219 different sports seasons over 22 years at Nicolet.
The Nicolet Athletic Hall of Fame honors former student athletes, coaches and other individuals who have contributed outstanding accomplishments towards Nicolet athletics. The candidates who make up the class of 2021 will be honored at halftime of the Nicolet boys varsity basketball game when it hosts Port Washington on Friday, Feb.18. There will be a dinner in the Knights Hall at Nicolet High School beginning at 5pm on Friday, Feb. 18 followed by the induction ceremony, halftime recognition and unveiling of the plaques on the ‘Wall of Fame’. A Hall of Fame Committee is composed of Nicolet athletic staff, coaches and alumni. All inductees are chosen following a formal nomination process available to the community and on the Nicolet website.
