USA bobsledder Hakeem Abdul-Saboor representing Powhatan at Winter Olympics
POWHATAN, Va. — Hakeem Abdul-Saboor is a 2005 Powhatan High School graduate who made his second Olympic appearance as a member of the 2022 US Olympic Bobsled team in Bejing. Hakeem found his love and affinity for bobsledding after an ACL injury derailed his college football days at University of Virginia at Wise VA-Wise and ended his dreams of a professional football career. In that devastating time, Hakeem turned his competitive edge to strength training and bodybuilding and still competes in National Physique Committee events. He is also a member of the U.S. Army’s World Class Athlete Program.
Hakeem’s Olympic career was the result of videos highlighting his athleticism which found their way to an Olympic official. This super athlete was then recruited by the USA Olympic Bobsled team and made his Olympic debut in 2018. The ice was a natural habitat! And though we won’t have the results of his 2022 Olympic appearance in time for this article, we are so proud of Hakeem and wish him many more years of competing!
