Get to know Erie HS lineman Logan Gilmore
ERIE, Colo. — Logan Gilmore is a Varsity Lineman for the Erie High School football team. His hard work and dedication to the sport have paid off, as he has helped lead the Erie Tigers into an incredible season!
When asked what he loves about playing football, Logan says, “The community around it. I love how the whole town comes out to the games to cheer us on and how most of them don’t care about the outcome; they are there to support us. I also love the sense of brotherhood we share on the team and how you have so many people to lean on when things get hard.”
His pre-game ritual is sitting alone listening to music while imagining himself doing great things in the game. His teammates usually say a little prayer before each game, getting themselves into a mindset to stay focused on their job. Football is physically demanding; players must sacrifice a lot of time, but Logan doesn’t mind – he eagerly does this because he loves to play football.
Not only is Logan an exceptional football player, he also participates in two school choirs. He was selected to be in the all-state choir earlier this year and his school choir performed at CMEA (Colorado Music Educators Association), which is a very high honor for high school choirs in the state. In December Logan sang the National Anthem as a soloist for the state championship game at the Broncos stadium. He also enjoys playing rugby and basketball.
“Being part of a team has taught me the aspect of ‘we’ before ‘me.’ It has taught me how to confide with my team because it only makes us stronger,” says Logan.
After playing football for the past 13 years, Logan has set a personal goal: to win a state championship and earn a football scholarship when he graduates with the class of 2023!
