TCU completes the sweep against Kansas State

FORT WORTH, TX. (BVM) — Texas Christian University brought home three wins last weekend in a series sweep against Kansas State. TCU won 11-3 against Kansas State on Sunday afternoon, completing the series on a great note for the Horned Frogs.

However, on Saturday afternoon it was an extremely lowscoring affair until Tommy Sacco hit a home run in the fifth Inning. Prior to that inning, the Horned Frogs were losing to an unexpected opponent, Kansas State, down 5-3. The first five innings were a sloppy, airfilled contest.

Kansas State opened up the game 2-0, and after a scrappy five innings, they had increased the score 5-3. In the fifth inning, Sacco uncorked a bomb into the right-field student section, which tied up the game.

After that hit, it was essentially a homerun derby. In the 6th inning, David Bishop hit a solid base hit which paved the way for Sacco. The Frogs went on a 12-0 scoring run before Kurtis Byrne led the seventh inning scoring with his second home run of the season, finishing the outing winning 15-5.

A few other Frogs stood out in the game on Saturday such as Elijah Nunez, who is one of the best base runners in the Big-12 and put on a show this weekend. Regardless, Sacco stole the show for not only swinging his momentum in the Frogs’ direction, but for earning his 100th career hit which is a huge deal in college baseball.
