Virginia Beach Swim League summer swim
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Swim League (VBSL) consists of 20 summer recreation swim teams for youth from ages 4-18. While the name says Virginia Beach, the teams that form the league also include those in Norfolk and Chesapeake.
Swimmers of all abilities who meet the basic eligibility requirements may participate –– usually for the youngest swimmers, this means the ability to swim across the pool safely. Swimmers usually practice according to age and/or ability level with practice days and times varying by team. Some teams require club membership and some allow just a swim team membership.
Practices usually begin just after Memorial Day with meets beginning in mid-June on mostly Saturdays and continuing through the end of July. For those swimmers who qualify, a Divisional meet occurs in early August and swimmers with the best swim times from the season participate in an All-Star meet the week after.

The swimmers don’t just work on skills, practice and competition in summer league. Some teams also have events like cookouts, ice cream socials, float parties, teen nights, trips to the movies and waterparks.
You can find information about the following teams on the VBSL website. Signups for most teams have already begun and some age groups do fill up and close.
