Woodgrove beats Loudoun Valley in long-awaited showdown of Purcellville powerhouses
PURCELLVILLE, Va. — For the first time in two years these crosstown rivals met again at Valley High School on Monday night.
The Woodgrove Wolverines jumped all over the Loudoun Valley Vikings early and often collecting 16 hits with two of those via the long ball. Racking up 14 runs with multiple hit games for Whetsell, Chatfield, Hooftallen, Rohs, Lane and Thompson. Whetsell had a 4-for-4 night at the plate to lead the Wolverines to a 14-1 win.
Lane was sensational on the mound for the Wolverines allowing just two hits and one run in five innings, striking out 12 batters with 0 walks. Greene took the loss for Loudoun Valley Vikings.
