On the La Habra turf with twin sisters Katelyn and Jordan Lipham
LA HABRA, Calif. — Katelyn and Jordan Lipham are Seniors at La Habra High School. The twin sisters have played soccer for 13 years, since they were just 4 years old. They currently play on two teams: The La Habra High School Girls Varsity Team and Strikers G04 North Discovery Team, a local club team in Placentia. Strikers FC has received national recognition for being one of the top clubs in the country for producing collegiate, professional and national team players.
Katelyn’s personal goal is to make the most out of the time she has left to play soccer. She has learned focus on her playing, she tunes out the sideline banter and keeps her head in the game. Katelyn and Jordan have the same pregame ritual, “We do a handshake with teammates before every game.” “Being a member of a team has taught me that you don’t play for yourself, but for your teammates, the girls standing next to you.” She loves the sisterhood and friendship she has built with her fellow players. Outside of soccer, Katelyn also surfs, skies and snowboards.
Jordan recalls, “The biggest challenge I have faced in soccer is tearing my ACL during league of my junior year. I had to have surgery followed by eight plus months of physical therapy and rehabilitation. She hopes to fully recover from tearing her ACL and get back to the level she was at prior to her injury. Jordan shares, “The best advice I was given was by one of my physical therapists who said, ‘Be patient and keep working hard and the results will come,’ which really helped me push myself and stay positive during my recovery. I love being a part of a team filled with great teammates. If we win as a team and lose as a team, too.” She enjoys watersports like her sister and loves spending time with her family and friends.
