Tesoro HS boys and girls wrestlers expected to have another successful season
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. — Led by head coach Adam Panick, the Tesoro High School Wrestling Team has become a top competitor in California. The 2021-2022 season was particularly successful, with Tesoro winning their second straight Sea View League Championship. Additionally, they sent two strong contenders to the California State Tournament. This year the team was captained by seniors Michael McGettigan and Billy Dean.
Coach Panick and assistant coaches Ruben Gonzalez, Bob Brown, Laslo Molner, and Tim Cornish plan to continue this trajectory during the 2022-2023 season. When asked what the team’s secret to success is, Panick talked about the family environment they have created on the team.
He shares, “Everyone is welcomed and supported both on and off the mat. The team works hard and plays hard, often celebrating as a team with social events around the community.” Others note that special bond and other schools often compliment them on how close they all are.
Tesoro Wrestling has grown so much as a program over the last 10 years, and Panick has high hopes for the future. He was excited to share that Tesoro added a girl’s wrestling program last season, with one of their wrestlers, Sophia Cornish, finishing in the top 10 in the State.
Be sure to check them out. The team is always welcoming interested athletes and new families.
