DePaul University freshman guard Aneesah Morrow has done very well for DePaul women’s basketball

CHICAGO (BVM) — Aneesah Morrow is doing very well at DePaul University. She has just finished up her first season with the Blue Demons, in which DePaul finished 22-10 overall. Morrow had a great season averaging 21.5 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

It unfortunately ended with a 88-57 loss to Dayton University in the NCAA Tournament First Four game. In that game, Morrow had 28 points, 17 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals.

Her highest scoring game this season was against Creighton University on February 27, in which she had 41 points, 18 rebounds, and two steals. DePaul won the game 90-84.

She has also earned many accolades this season while at DePaul, including unanimous All-Big East First Team, unanimous Big East Freshman of The Year, and unanimous Big East All-Freshman team. On March 9, she was named to the Sports Illustrated All-American Second team,The Athletic All-American Second team, and was The Athletic National Freshman of the Year.

She earned these accolades due to her amazing play on the court for the entire season.

Not only has she done well at DePaul, but she was excellent in high school at Simeon Career Academy in Chicago. In 2020, she led Simeon to a 35-2 record and its first state championship in Class 3A in which she averaged 28.4 points,14.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.9 steals.

After passing the 1,000 point mark in her junior season, MaxPreps ranked Morrow as the No. 1 recruit in Illinois and the No. 20 recruit in the nation. She was also ranked No. 45 by Prospects Nation.

After her senior season, she was selected First Team All-State by the Associated Press, Champaign Gazette, and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association(IBCA).

Back in 2018, Morrow led the Wolverines to a Public League title when she was a freshman. During that season, she averaged 15.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.9 steals per game.

She is currently majoring in computing and digital media and is also looking to continue her great success for DePaul basketball going forward.
