Oklahoma women’s gymnastics aim to defend crown
NORMAN, Okla. (BVM) – It’s no surprise that the University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team is one of the best NCAA gymnastics programs in the country. With an undefeated season and an NCAA championship win in the 2021-22 year, the Sooner’s gymnastics team is ready to continue their winning ways. It’s no surprise that the University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team is one of the best NCAA gymnastics programs in the country.
Something unique about Oklahoma’s women’s gymnastics program is that regardless of the athletes filtering in and out of the program, the base for the team remains steady. Some teams will have more substantial years than others, but OU has consistently ranked in the top 10 for years, and that can be attributed to the coaching staff and the talent that continues to shine in the program.
Two of the newest gymnasts that will be on Oklahoma’s team for the 2022-23 season are Faith Torrez and Ava Siegfeldt. Both of these athletes were chosen by head coach KJ Kindler, who are both considered to have “earned national team member status.” With Torrez and Siegfeldt, the Sooners can continue the “OU tradition of excellence.”
Both athletes will be attending in the fall and are sure to bring more talent to the already successful team. It’s hard to tell right now, but another NCAA championship could be in the future for the Sooners. Sooner fans and gymnastic fans should expect the squad to be another successful season in 2022-23.
