Top 10 Arkansas baseball players in the Class of 2022

LITTLE ROCK (BVM) — When it comes to the rest of the country, the baseball talent in Arkansas is exceptional. Especially in the Class of 2022.

Here are the top 10 players in the Class of 2022 for Arkansas.

  1. Gage Watson, LHP, Marion

A 6-foot-3, 165-pound lefty, Watson has all the making of a pitcher who can excel at the next level. He sports a fastball, curveball and a changeup. He’ll be prepared to improve all three pitchers when he heads to Columbia to suit up for the Missouri Tigers. Watson will also be joining Logan Lunceford, and both will look to form a dynamic duo.

  1. Jordan Huskey, LHP, Greenbriar

Another left-handed pitching prospect, Huskey has proven to be one of the best. But this lefthander will stay in-state suit up for the Razorbacks. Huskey is 6-foot and weighs 175 pounds and can rear back and give you a 90 mph fastball in your eyes and then give you a nasty slider to keep on your toes. When he reaches Fayetteville, he can improve mightily.

  1. Aaron Arnold, RHP, Bentonville West

The Natural State really knows how to produce pitchers. Arnold is one of those. A right-hander who can give a low-90s fastball and can change speeds with a curveball and changeup. Arnold is another Razorback commit that could help his future squad in its quest for a CWS title once he’s between the lines in Fayetteville.

  1. Josh Hyneman, RHP, Jonesboro

The Razorbacks are getting another pitcher that throws the baseball effectively. He can also hit the ball too. But what the focus should be on is how he can throw low to mid-90s fastball. Hyneman, who also stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 235 pounds, can also throw a filthy curveball and also has a changeup. Hyneman, Arnold and Huskey can form a three-headed dragon with the Razorbacks.

  1. Trey Hill, C, Farmington

Hill is arguably the best catcher in Arkansas. His pop time, which someone always looks for in an elite catcher, is great, hovering around two seconds. Hill also has the power to hit double-digit home runs at the next level. Hill will be heading to Arkansas-Litte Rock looking to help the Trojans capture a Sun Belt championship.

  1. Colton Sims, SS, Russellville

Razorback fans will be happy to see Sims out on the cardinal and white. Sims has the arm to take to the mound if need be, or he can play his primary position of shortstop. Where he plays is up to Razorback head baseball coach David Van Horn. But he’ll undoubtedly succeed wherever he plays.

  1. Duke Walker, OF, Ozark

Walker can man the outfield and take to the mound if he’s called upon to do so. His fastball can reach 90 mph if he puts it all behind it. When Walker steps into the batter’s box, he is also to be feared. With one swing, he can put it over the fence.

Walker will be joining Watson at Missouri and will look to help the Tigers compete in the SEC.

  1. Austin Gage Wood, RHP, Batesville

Wood is another prospect that will be staying in his home state as an Arkansas commit who is ready to give it all for his home team. At 6-foot-1, Wood also packs a punch when he’s on the mound. He brings a fastball that has reached 95 mph and has a curveball and changeup that can keep batters off balance. Wood’s ceiling is very high. And when he reaches Fayetville, he can improve significantly.

  1. Cooper Dossett, RHP, Har-Ber

Dossett is another Arkansas commit that can really light up the radar gun, reaching 93-94 mph. He also can throw you two breaking pitches that can buckle batters’ knees. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear his name called in the MLB Draft this July.

  1. Easton Swofford, SS, Southside Bee Branch

Swofford is, without a doubt, the best prep prospect in Arkansas. The Razorback commit can post an exit velo close to 100mph when he gets the barrel on the ball. Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 pounds, Swofford has a bright future ahead of him. Whether he hears his voice announced this July or his career flourishes in Fayetteville, Swofford will show the nation he is one of the best shortstops.
